Harry Potter Vs. Percy Jackson

HP VS PJO

This is a topic which I always wanted to write on; which is better, the Harry Potter series or the Percy Jackson series? I have read both of them and will give you a synopsis of the first book in both of the series (the lightning thief in Percy Jackson and the Philosophers stone for Harry Potter)

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is just like any ordinary kid that is until he got to know the big secret. He is a demigod, a son of the Greek god Poseidon (yes, the god of the sea and earthquakes). He travels to camp half-blood which is (apparently) the only safe place in the worlds for demigods where all the monsters can’t get to him. When he reaches camp he learns that Zeus and Poseidon are fighting. Someone stole Zeus’s master lightning bolt! And Zeus thinks it was Percy! (which is totally unfair) Percy leaves for a quest with his friends Grover and Annabeth to find and return the lightning bolt and to save his mother.

But the Three fates have other plans. Someone has also stolen Hades (the god of the dead) helm of darkness. And guess what! He also suspects Percy! (No surprise looking at Percy’s recent luck). The big three (Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon) are in a fierce war with each other, while only one god is benefiting, someone who loves wars…

But the picture is bigger. These are plans to bring back one of the oldest (and most evil) Titan. The father of the big three…

This book will take you through twists and turns. You will laugh a lot (like a lot), you might also feel sorry for Percy and his mom and you will definitely get angry at the gods for being such idiots…

Can Percy stop the titan, stop a war, find not one but two missing items and save his mom before the winter solstice? To answer that question you must read the book.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers' Stone

Harry lives with his aunt and uncle who are very cold to him. His parents were killed when he was really young and the killer had left Harry with a scar on his forehead. Harry is looking at the clock on the night of his 12th birthday and the second the clock strikes 12, the door breaks open and a hairy man who is 8 feet tall and a friend of his parents walks in and delivers the iconic dialog that changes Harry's life: “You’re a wizard Harry”.

From there Harry shops for all his wizard materials (a wand, books and even an owl!) so that he can attend the best wizarding school, where his parents also went: the Famed Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

As Harry joins his new school, he makes several friends and enemies and has many exciting and breathtaking adventures, some of which are also life threatening!

Very soon he realizes that he's famous amongst the witches and wizards as being the only person to survive the Evil Lord Voldemort, the one who had killed his parents.

When Harry finds out that there is a stone of immortality hidden inside the Hogwarts Castle, he is suspicious the potions master (Severus Snape) is trying to steal it.

As the plot unravels, the true thief is unmasked and Harry fights for what is right, but can he survive another meeting with Voldemort?

I  cried, laughed, yelled and screamed while reading this book and I'm sure you will too.

Now that you have read both of these synopses, see for yourself which one is better, which may not be a black and white answer. If you still can’t decide, read both of these terrific reads because I know you will enjoy them!
